After your safari in the north, you will proceeding with safari to the southern park; via Dodoma region for stopover then proceed to Ruaha National Park, Udzungwa Mountains, Mikumi National Park and Selous Game Reserve, which host a huge populations of elephants, lions, hippos, and crocodiles.
You will have the opportunity to observe the amazing wildlife in the parks combined with -out of the vehicle activities such as a village walking tour in Mto wa Mbu, a balloon ride over the serengeti plains, a hiking tour at Udjungu Mt, a boat safari and guided walking safari in selous.
Safari Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival in Tanzania
You will be picked up from the airport by our representative and taken to your accommodation in Arusha, where you will spend the night, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come.
Day 2:
Arusha to Lake Natron
(Optionally afternoon Flamingo Lake walk )
After early breakfast, your safari driver- guide will pick you from your lodge at 07h00am to proceed to Lake Natron. Arrival at your tented camp in the early afternoon. Lunch is provided.
In the afternoon you will enjoy a guided walk at the soda lake flats to see the beautiful lesser flamingos. The beguiling lesser flamingo feed on algae found in soda lakes across eastern Africa but choose to breed almost exclusively at Lake Natron.
Lake Natron, home of millions of lesser flamingos, is a natural alkaline soda lake; it is a series of the East Africa Rift Valley lakes, located in the Northern Tanzania, North Ngorongoro Highlands and South of the active volcano OI Donyo Lengai. The Lake measuring a maximum of 57 Kms in length, is quite shallow, less than 3 m deep, and varies in width depending on its water level. It is known as a soda lake due to its exceptionally high concentration of sodium Carbonate; temperatures of mud can reach up to 50C and alkaline levels can reach a pH of 9.5-10.
This area is breathtakingly beautiful! The fringe of the valley is composed of emerald green hills and mountains that create scenery unrivaled anywhere else in the world. Spectacular flocks of flamingos are one of the major attractions for visiting the lake. It is here where the lesser flamingos nest successfully. Over three quarter of the world’s population of this bird, breeds here because food is plentiful, nesting sites abound and because the lake exists in almost total isolation, free from outside disturbance.

Day 3:
Lake Natron (Hike at Ngaresero Waterfalls)
Accompanied by a local guide, you will go for a morning Hike at Ngare Sero waterfalls, (optional swimming) The scenery is a unique blend of arid volcanic rocks and lush tropical palms. Wear shoes that can get wet and bring your swimsuit.
You will have a picnic lunch at the waterfalls. In the early afternoon you will return to your camp for leisure, dinner and overnight.

Day 4:
Lake Natron – Serengeti National Park
Today our journey takes us to our exciting destination being a name familiar to everyone– the Great Serengeti. In the Maasai language “serengeti” means “endless plain”. The park stretches for over 15,000 square kilometers. Serengeti National Park is quite simply the most magnificent wildlife sanctuary in the world— unparalleled in natural beauty and wilderness. From vast, open plains casting idyllic, golden sunsets, to steamy riverbanks and towers of granite boulders, the serengeti throbs with life in the endless rhythms of the animals.
We will enter Serengeti via Klein’s gate and head to the central park area, know as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attract wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive exploring the wildlife of Serengeti.
With its wide-open spaces, bright blue skies and creature-filled landscape. Large prides of lions laze in the long grasses: plentiful families of elephants feed on acacia bark and trumpet to each other across the plains, while giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, eland and the whole range of African wildlife present themselves in awe- inspiring numbers.
At sunset arrival to your tented camp in the heart of the famous Seronera Valley. Arrival for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5:
Serengeti National Park Game Drive
Waking up in the Serengeti is something really special. Sights, sounds and smell of Africa are all around us, and ahead is a full day adventures in the world’s most famous national park.
After breakfast, you will have a full day game drive in various areas of the park. The Serengeti ecosystem is home to the “big five” (lion, African elephants, Cape buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros). The other main species include giraffe, zebra, antelope, Thompson’s nd Grant’s gazelle, hippopotamus, crocodiles, and in seasons the spectacular migration of the wildebeest.
Everywhere there are animals, vervet monkeys, olive baboons and a great variety of birds—with a total of 505 species being documented so far. But look closely and you will thrill to the huge jungle cats—lion, leopard and cheetah— just watching the world go by. And go by it does. Animals in the trees, on the wing, camouflaged in the bush, in rivers and in stream. The adventure of a lifetime!
You will have a break for picnic lunch in the bush. At sunset, return to your tented camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6:
Serengeti Balloon Safari and Game Drive
Early wake-up call at 04h30am to prepare yourselves and have a cup of coffee/tea. A driver with an authorized vehicle to drive while it is still dark, will pick you from your camp to transfer you to the Balloon launching site. Your Balloon Safari adventure starts at about 5h00 am when you depart your lodge. It is still dark and you may be fortunate to see nocturnal animals on the way to the Launching site. When you arrive, you will meet your pilot and witness your balloon being inflated and prepared for launch.
After a thorough safety briefing and demonstration of boarding and landing position you board your balloon and lift off! Rising as the sun rises your balloon floats in whatever direction the winds of the day are heading over this wonderful area. Your pilot will use varying altitudes and layers of air to navigate the balloon over this amazing area spotting the wild animals and enjoying the view around. It aims to fly for about an hour, depending on conditions. After landing, you celebrate in the traditional way with a champagne toast before heading off to a special breakfast in the bush under an acacia tree.
Your safari driver–guide will meet you at the breakfast site, to proceed with game drive exploring further the wildlife in the park. You will have a break for picnic lunch in the bush. At sunset, return to your tented camp. Dinner will be served at your camp followed by a good night rest.

Day 7:
Serengeti to Ndutu Area for Game Drive
After early breakfast you will proceed for game drive in Ndutu Area, situated on the borders of the southern Serengeti ecosystem and Ngorongoro conservation area. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes; however the water is drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. With en route game drive explore the range of different habitats that included swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains.
You will have the chance to see big herds of the famous migration of the wildebeest and zebra. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains of Ndutu and Southern Serengeti from December to April.
You will have a break for picnic lunch in the bush. At sunset, proceed to your tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 8:
Ndutu – Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Karatu
At sunrise you will proceed to Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival and after the gate procedures, you will drive down to the crater floor wildlife game.
With its abundant water, excellent grazing and natural protection from the densely vegetated crater walls, the crater provides shelter to over 25000 animals, including the endangered Black Rhinoceros. The crater and surrounding highlands are one of Africa’s most beautiful regions, with volcanic caldera, a crater formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago. It is estimated that the height of the original volcano between 4,500 to 5,800 metres high.
Lunch will be taken in a picnic site inside the crater. In the afternoon you will ascend the crater and proceed to your lodge in karatu, for leisure, dinner and overnight.

Day 9:
Karatu – Mto wa Mbu Guided Village Walk – Lake Manyara Game Drive – Lake Burunge
After breakfast depart for Mto Wa Mbu to meet with our local guide and go for a cultural walk. Mto wa Mbu village is thought to be one of the only places in Tanzania where there are representatives from all 120 tribes living happily side by side. Although the name translates as ‘Mosquito River’, due to the permanent water source in the village, we fortunately did’nt see many mosquitoes. During your visit you’ll get a good feel for social side of the village– the banana plantations, the milling machines, the schools, markets and churches. Your guide will be happy to answer any questions you might have, and will help you to gain an understanding of the inner workings of this typical Tanzanian community.
After your walk, you will meet with you driver- guide to explore the wildlife in Lake Manyara has a lovely environment; entering its main gate you pass through a lush evergreen forest created by groundwater that comes from the Ngorongoro Highlands. As you drive further on, you pass through dense acacia woodland offering an opportunity to watch impressive tusked elephants and big families of baboons. Around the lake there is a grassy floodplain dotted with large herds of buffalo, zebras, wildebeest and giraffes.
Lake Manyara is also one of the finest parks for bird-lovers – more than 380 species have been recorded- including pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks. Abundant hippos bathe in the waters. The forest is a good home for leopard, whilst Manyara’s lions are famous for their tree-climbing behavior (though not easy to be seen)
In afternoon, proceed to lake Burunge tented camp close to Tarangire. Leisure time, dinner and overnight.

Day 10:
Tarangire National Park Game Drive
After breakfast, you will proceed to Tarangire National park. It is the vast number of baobab trees that will first catch your eye as you enter the park, a large proportion of which are said to be more than 2,000 years old! Tarangire boasts the second highest concentration of elephants in Africa. It is also home to more than 700 resident lions.
In addition to its famous heard of elephants, you have chances of seeing buffalos, impalas, gazelles, fringe-eared oryxes and gerenuks, while the park’s swamps give shelter to over 500 varieties of birds. The permanent water of the Tarangire River attracts thousands of animals, with zebra and wildebeest using the river as a refuge.
Lunch will be taken in a picnic site in the park. In the afternoon you will return to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11:
Tarangire – Dodoma Region
(Optionally visit the Kondoa Irangi Rock Paintings)
Today after breakfast, proceed to Dodoma region, with a break for picnic lunch on the way.
Optionally on the way you can visit the Kondoa Irangi Rock paintings (at an extra fee of USD 25 per person to be paid in advance or on the spot). The kondoa Irangi Rock paintings are a series of ancient paintings on rocks shelter walls. You will meet with a local guide who will show you the rock paintings and talk to you about the history of the site. The paintings were created from hunter- gatherer and pastoralist communities and the images are testament to the changing socio-economic environment in the region. The hunter- gatherer rock paintings of Kondoa are dominated by human figures and animals. The renowned paleontologist Mary Leakey surveyed and documented many of the paintings at Kolo in the 1950s.
You will then proceed to Dodoma town for dinner and overnight at your way.

Day 12:
Dodoma – Ruaha National Park (Overnight)
After breakfast you will depart from Dodoma and drive to Ruaha National Park for game drive.
Ruaha has an area pf 10,300sq km, and is the second- largest elephant sanctuary in Tanzania. The great Ruaha that flows along its entire eastern border creates spectacular gorges and scenery,`and features a large number of hippos and crocodiles. The wide variety of animals that inhabit the park include both Greater and Lesser Kudu, as well as roan and sable antelope. Bird life is also rich, with over 370 species recorded.
Before, dark you will head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13:
Ruaha National Park Game Drive
Today you will enjoy a full day exploring the wildlife in Ruaha National Park. The park protects a vast tract of the rugged, semi- arid bush country that characterizes central Tanzania. The shores of Ruaha are a permanent hunting ground for lion, leopard,jackal, hyena and the rare and endangered African Wild Dog. keep an eye out for greater kudu (the largest populations are found here), the park emblem, distinguished by the male’s magnificent corkscrew horns.
Return to your lodge for some leisure time, followed by dinner and overnight.

Day 14:
Ruaha – Udzungwa Mountains
Today after breakfast you will depart from the lodge with picnic lunch and drive to udzungwa Forest about 6 hrs drive arrival at Udzungwa forest camp, afternoon at leisure, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 15:
Udzungwa Mountains – Mikumi National Park
After breakfast your driver will transfer you to the starting hiking point (about 30min drive), -along with specialised guide and driver – guide, you will hike the trail of Udzungwa Mt. to the Sanje Waterfalls: this is the most popural hike up to Sanje Waterfalls, being surrounded by the tropical forest, looking for monkeys, a great variety of birds (about 400species documented), beautiful butterflies, swimming in plunge pools, and enjoying the spectacular view.
This is the prime attraction for this area and if you are a keen walker then taking this hiking opportunity is strongly recommended. Packed lunch will be provided to enjoy your picnic at the waterfalls. Afterwards return to the starting point to board on your vehicle and proceed driving to Mikumi. Dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian.
Activities: Udzungwa Mountain Hiking and transfers between locations.
Day 16:
Mikumi National Park Game Drive – Morogoro
After breakfast, you will enter the Mikumi National Park for game drive, exploring the park’s widlife. Mikumi is home to a rich variety of bird species, as well as large numbers of giraffe, bufallo, and elephant. If you are lucky, you may also be able to spot lions, leopards, and African Wild Dogs. Likely to be seen animals include zebras, hippos, hartebeest, wildebeest, impala, warthog, eland and antelope.
In the afternoon proceed to your lodge in Morogoro Region. Arrival for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 17:
Morogoro – Selous Game Reserve
(Afternoon Boat Safari)
This morning you will proceed to selous. Arrival to your camp on time for lunch.
After some time to rest you will take part on an afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River which bisects the reserve from north to south. Relax as you view and photograph the local game in their natural habitat from as different perspective, while peacefully sailing down the river. You wil see plenty of hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds, lizards and other species.
Selous is the only park in the country where game viewing can be done by car, on foot or by boat. It is famous for a large population of elephants- approximately 70% of Tanzania’s are found here. More than 40.000 hippos inhabit the river systems; there are large herds of buffalo and packs of African wild dogs, while 5000 lions reign in the area. Among its other inhabitants are leopards, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, a variety of antelope and gazelles species, some of the last remaining black rhinos and more than 350 species of birds. Reptiles such as crocodiles, snakes, and lizards also live in the park.

Day 18:
Selous Game Reserve
(Morning Walking Safari & Afternoon Game Drive)
Early in the morning, accompanied by a specialized guide, you will head out to the park for a walking safari. Your guide will show you how to read the clues in the bush – a steaming pile of dug indicates an Elephant passed through not long ago.
Listen to the trills of the birds and you may hear alarm calls indicating the presence of a predator nearby. Lion and Wild Dog are rarely encountered on walks, but Buffalo are frequently seen. Feel the pace of your heart quicken as you slowly, queintly come quite close to a herd of Elephant, under careful instruction from your guide.
You realize just how big an African Elephant really is.
After your walk (2-3 hours) you will have a break for brunch. Later you will board on your safari vehicle and head with your guide to various areas of the park to explore further the wildlife till sunset on a game drive. At sunset, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
